Important CPE announcement
It is time for all IIA-certified professionals whose membership or customer identification numbers (for non-members) end with an even number to report the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours required to keep your designation active. The deadline for CPE reporting is May 31, 2010. If you fail to meet the CPE requirements by the deadline, you will automatically be placed in inactive status and may not use your designation. If you have already reported for this period, you do not need to report again.
To report your CPE for the 2008/2009 calendar years, please fill out the online CPE reporting form at the link below:
https://www.theiia.org/index.cfm?act=form.cpereport
Your customer ID and certificate number will be requested on your reporting form. If you are not sure what your ID number is, please reference the bottom of this correspondence for that information.
Please be sure to log in with your membership ID number and password to ensure that you receive accurate pricing. IIA certification holders who are not members of The IIA are required to submit a US $50 reporting fee. If you are a member, this fee is waived.
If you already know your IIA Member/Customer ID and you require your password, please enter your ID number on the webpage link below and your password will be emailed to the email address we have on file:
http://www.theiia.org/index.cfm?act=manager.requestpassword
If you cannot locate your IIA Member/Customer ID, you can contact Customer Service by clicking the “Click for Live Chat” button located on that page, during the posted available times. Additionally, you can contact customer service via email at: CustomerService@theiia.org.
The three categories for reporting (practicing, non-practicing, and retired) are based on your work status, and you must meet the requirements for the applicable category in order to report.
If you hold a CIA designation, you are required to report 80 hours to retain practicing status, and 40 hours for non-practicing. If you hold a CCSA, CFSA or CGAP designation, you are required to report 40 hours to retain practicing status, and 20 hours for non-practicing.
Once you have completed the six steps on the online form, please print a copy of the confirmation page and retain it for your records. Your record in the Certification Candidate Management System (CCMS) will be updated within 2 to 3 weeks.
If you hold more than one certification issued by the IIA, you can use the CPE hours earned for one designation towards your other designations; however, you must submit a separate on-line CPE report for each designation.
If you have questions, please contact Customer Service using the information provided previously.
Thank you,
IIA Certification Department
Notice to candidates who are expiring from an IIA certification program on January 1, 2010:
The Certification Candidate Handbook notes that for all candidates who were not yet certified and whose eligibility had not expired as of December 31, 2007, all applications and previously passed exam parts were converted to the Certification Candidate Management System (CCMS) with an “application approved” or “exam passed” date of January 1, 2008. This means that those candidates will expire from their certification program on January 1, 2010, if they have not performed one of the activities that extend eligibility through the current eligibility period rules (see page 21 of the Certification Candidate Handbook).
If you are one of these candidates, we have good news for you! The IIA is granting a grace period through April 30, 2010, that will allow you to reinstate your enrolled status and retain your previously passed exam parts. Based on this grace period, we will not remove any expired candidate’s enrollment status or previously passed exam parts from CCMS until April 30, 2010. You will, however, lose your enrollment status and previously passed parts if you do not sit for an exam part or have a current open registration for an exam part by April 30, 2010. If you sit for an exam part, your program eligibility will be reinstated, your previously passed parts will be retained, and you will then fall under the normal eligibility period rules once again (that is, you will not expire from the program for at least two more years). If you have a current open registration on April 30, 2010, but you do not sit for an exam part, you will expire as soon as you no longer have an open registration.
We hope that you will take advantage of this grace period to reactivate your candidacy and move forward with your certification goals. Please log in to CCMS in order to view your record and register for exams. If this is your first time using the CCMS and you are an IIA member, there is a “First Time Users” link that will provide you with an option for using your IIA member/Web site login (referred to as your NetForum user name and password) for entry in CCMS. Additional information on logging into CCMS for the first time is available in the Certification Candidate Handbook. If you have further questions on logging in, please contact IIA’s Customer Service Center at custserv@theiia.org.
